In a quiet village in southwest Nigeria, elderly residents struggled with various health issues—blurred vision, untreated high blood pressure, and a lack of basic medical care. Without easy access to healthcare facilities, many of them endured pain and discomfort in silence. Determined to bring relief to these forgotten members of society, Diaspora Solution Group Nigeria (DSGN) launched a mission to provide essential medical materials, training, free blood pressure tests, and prescription eyeglasses for elderly residents in the region.
Makoko, often called the “floating slum” of Lagos, is a vibrant yet challenging community where resilience and hope shine through immense adversity. Among its stilted wooden homes and bustling waterways stands a small school, a beacon of hope for children eager to learn despite limited resources. These young learners share a relentless determination to break free from the cycle of poverty that grips their community.
Hunger was a constant struggle for many families in a town in southeast Nigeria. With limited access to food, children went to bed with empty stomachs, and parents faced the heartbreaking reality of being unable to feed their loved ones. Despite their best efforts, the rising cost of food left many households with little more than a prayer for relief.
On 21st day of October 2024, a research visit was conducted at Ai-Famu Primary School to assess the overall conditions, educational quality, and to see the level at which the school was abandoned by government. The purpose of the visit was to get statistical justification as why we need to intervene through the Grant we seek and to provide picture evidence of the condition of the school.
DSGN conducted a comprehensive evaluation visit to Community Primary School in Umueze Obinofia to assess the school’s present condition and eligibility for a grant application.
METHODOLOGY:
During the evaluation visit, the evaluators interviewed key staff, including the school’s head teachers and students. We also observed classroom instruction and teaching techniques, reviewed school data and documentation, and assessed the school’s facilities and resources.
